Fly bites treatment is symptomatic, meaning medical care and treatment options are administered based on severity of symptoms.

Common fly bites pain and swelling, can be treated with ice on the affected area similar to mosquito or ant bites. Always clean the surrounding fly bites areas with soap and water to prevent further contamination or possible secondary infection. Avoid scratching that may tear or break the skin that can lead to infection.

Permethrin sprays are effective on clothing and tents for protection against fly bites. This chemical can last up to six weeks and may not be washed away easily by rainwater.

Avoid areas with free standing water where flies breed. Both mosquitoes and flies dwell on standing water. Dispose of decaying vegetation and garbage and quickly clean up after pet waste. These are the kinds of environment where flies feed and maggots proliferate and where female flies lay their eggs.
